Topic: “Packet Transport: Where Are We Standing
and How Can We Go”
Speaker: Dr Jiaying Wang, Chief Engineer,
Optical Transport Products, ZTE
Abstract
The values of transport network, e.g., large
capacity, high reliability and flexible grooming
functionalities, are challenged by the blossom
of data services. IP/Ethernet deployment is
growing rapidly. However, the advantages of
photonics will guarantee the dominate
functionalities of transport networks NOT to
loss the position, but keep in a far future.
Currently, new and exciting IP-based content,
applications and services is attractive for the
carriers to extend their circuit transport
networks to a unified networking platform in
support of with packet transport capabilities,
and move from today’s position on the packet
service interface cards into the core fabrics to
have capex and opex savings. Speaker Biography
